Cement is a binding material called binding agent. We know cement is a main ingredient of building materials. Cement is a commonly used binding material in the construction. The cement is obtained by burning a mixture of calcarious (calcium) and argillaceous (clay) material at a very high temperature and then grinding the clinker so produced to a fine powder. It was first produced by a mason Joseph Aspdin in England in 1924. He patented it as Portland cement.
Clinker is the main raw material used for cement manufacturing. The lime stone powder, iron ore, alumina are all made into a powery form and the same will be preheated and this preheated material will be sent thro’ a rotary kiln and coal powder will be injected to about 1500degree celetious, the final producet, you will get is the clinker. This clinker will be cooled down and with 95% cliker and 5% gypsum will be ground in a cement mill for a surface area of not less than 225 sqm per kg and this final product is known as the OPC. Depending upon the compressive strength on 7.07cm cube after 28 days of curing, we classify OPC 33/43/53GRADE CEMENT
